Went to Felton today for a Civil War reenactment in Felton at Roaring Camp which is next to Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park were we later had a bbq and were joined by another friend who lives in Felton. We bbq'd some veggies and chicken. Also had a picnic lunch with some great bread and cheese from The Milk Pail market in Mountain View. A few pictures from today over on the left. Many of the people performing in the reenactment had been sleeping in small canvas tents since Tuesday so by Sunday after almost a week of late night 'activities' and such they definitely had the bedraggled look for that authentic touch. Of course occasionally seen fresh strawberries and bananas did provide for a few modern luxuries and going a mile or so into town to a Safeway wasn't possible a hundred and forty years ago. Still I certainly wouldn't have wanted to trudge around in heavy wool pants and long sleeve shirts on a day like today. They said not only was it pretty hot during the day but it was freezing at night. Well that's a bit relative, this is California after all. Here's a good site with Civil War info and a timeline.
